In 2019, several dental students and Drs. Bob Eber and Carlos Gonzalez-Cabezas, faculty of the School of Dentistry, visited Meru, Kenya, to continue the implementation of a preventive/early intervention program at elementary schools. Working with local health workers, community members and teachers, more than 1,000 children without access to care were screened by the group and received education in oral health and hygiene. Children with active dental caries received additional preventive/early intervention treatments. Additionally, they gave a lecture to medical students of Kenya Methodist University, KeMU.
