STUDENT EXPERIENCES

Kim Chen

My family and I immigrated to the United States when I was 7 years old. We lived in China and Sweden before that. I was born in China, whereas my younger brother was born in Sweden. Having moved a lot since I was young has instilled in me a love of traveling. I try to squeeze in an overseas trip at least once a year despite the business of school. Creativity and exploration will always be a part of me and I would love to one day scuba dive in the open waters with whales.

Raymond He

I was born in China but I’ve lived in Canada and immigrated to the United States when I was 13 years old. I’ve always been fascinated with the outdoors and I try to spend as much time as I can doing mountain biking, hiking, or skiing in the Winter.

Jeff Nguyen

I am from sunny Southern California! When I am not at school or in research lab, I like to explore the outdoors. I am especially fond of animals especially large dogs!

Hui Zhang

I immigrated to the United States when I was 22 year old, after I attended college in China and majored in Russian. It was a big change in the beginning for me to adapt to life in the US, but soon I started to enjoy living here. However, the trip to China to visit Shantou brought me lots of happiness and old memories.

Marri May

I am from Grand Rapids, MI but have lived in Ann Arbor for the past 8 years because I went to U of M for undergrad and am now here for dental school. When I am not in dental school, I try to travel as much as possible. I love to hike and check out all the national parks around the United States.

Aaron Colamarino

I grew up on a small hobby farm in Standish, MI. After getting my degree in biochemistry from Alma College, I have spent the last four years in Ann Arbor at UMSOD. In my free time I like to spend time with my cat, go camping, and keep my hands busy with ceramics and woodworking.
