GUATEMALA 2017

The main goal of the 2017 Guatemala program was to establish connections and create relationships with local community members in order to better understand the needs of the community and how we can best serve the community to positively impact their oral health. Our hope is that future groups can build off of our initial interactions to create a sustainable & beneficial program for education & prevention of oral disease within Chichicastenango.

5 days in a fully equipped clinic with two chairs treating 25-30 patients each day	1 morning visiting about 3 different families sponsored by Pray America at their own homes	1 afternoon visiting after-school feeding programs supported by Pray America	1 afternoon visiting the dental school in Guatemala City (Universidad de San Carlos-- Facultad de Odontologia USAC)
Supervised by Dr. Niergarth, provided start and finish checks, answered questions	Distributed free brushes, toothpaste, and floss	Distributed free brushes, toothpaste, and floss	Toured with a few 3rd and 4th year dental students
