Description

Since 1981, the University of Michigan School of Dentistry's Community Dental Center, has collaborated with the City of Ann Arbor to address the unique needs of individuals including those limited by finances and physical challenges. Our experienced, caring staff provides the highest level of comprehensive dental care so that our patients may achieve and maintain optimal oral health and dignity. Our team includes staff dentists with over 40 years of combined experience, hygienists, dental assistants and pre-doctoral dental and dental hygiene students from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. We strive to provide a relaxing atmosphere for personalized care, with the goal of achieving your best dental health and smile.

We are centrally located in downtown Ann Arbor with free, on-site parking.

Monday - Thursday: 8am - 5pm
Friday: 8am - 1pm
Saturday (second Saturday of each month): 8am - 1pm

As part of the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry all dental specialties are available.

Financial Consideration / Payment

Community Dental Center accepts most insurance plans including Medicaid. Additionally, we offer a tiered fee structure through services by our pre-doctoral dental students.

STAFF

Kristi A. Thomas, DDS
Director & Lead Dentist

Dr. Kristi Thomas has been a General Practice Dentist in the Metro-Detroit area for the past eighteen years. She is a native Detroiter who had a chance high school internship with a Periodontist that resulted in a pursuit in the field of Dentistry. Both of her degrees, Bachelors of Arts (1995) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (1999) were achieved at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Post graduation, she practiced in private and corporate dentistry focusing on Pediatrics, Endodontics and Oral Surgery.

Dr. Thomas has been an advocate of Community Health Dentistry serving as a Community Center Dental Director for different Federally Qualified Health Centers for the past 7 years. She has increased access to care for the underserved population by implementing full-spectrum dental services in multiple health centers. She currently serves as the Vice President of General Dentistry for Deliver Dental Solutions and President of Deliver Dental Staffing. In addition, Dr. Thomas is the Dentist Representative on the Clinical Services Committee for the Michigan Primary Care Association and is a member of the Dentaquest Advisory Committee. Her memberships also include the Michigan Oral Health Coalition and the National Network for Oral Health Access. From 2015-2016, she was a National Oral Health Learning Institute Scholar.

Team building is a core theme in her life. When not practicing dentistry she enjoys spending time with her “home team” which includes her husband, two daughters and two sons.

McKenzie Maynor, DDS

Dr. McKenzie Maynor received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. She then went on to earn her Dental degree from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 2016. While in school, Dr. Maynor was not only committed to her studies, she was also very involved in giving back to her community. She volunteered her time to many health fairs, free dental clinics and even enrolled in an extramural semester long course aimed at treating the underserved population while being part of an interdisciplinary health team. Dr. Maynor was also chosen as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow in 2014. She spent a year creating and implementing a project that addressed a health disparity, specifically childhood caries, in a local Columbus community. Her project provided dental education to the children of a local elementary school through an after-school club. Upon completion of school, Dr. Maynor participated in a yearlong general practice residency program at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, MI. When she is not practicing Dr. Maynor enjoys spending time with family, friends and being active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
